Maasai Village
Day Visits and Cultural Immersion
At African Heritage Safaris, we offer a unique cultural experience that takes you to the heart of the Maasai community in Engikaret Village—the home of our co-founder, Ayubu Naandi. This immersive experience allows visitors to connect deeply with the Maasai way of life, away from the typical tourist hotspots, offering an authentic look into one of Tanzania’s most renowned cultures.

Naandi Boma
From fetching water and collecting firewood to visiting the local Maasai market on Saturdays, every aspect of this visit is flexible and tailored to the daily activities of the villagers. You’ll be invited to accompany the Maasai as they tend to their cattle, gather resources, or even explore the surrounding natural landscapes, where wildlife such as elephants can sometimes be spotted.
For those seeking even more adventure, the stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and Longido make this cultural visit even more unforgettable.
Location & Accommodation
Whether you’re passing through on your way between Arusha and Nairobi, or looking for a unique day trip from Arusha, a visit to Engikaret Village is a perfect opportunity to enrich your journey. Located just 1 kilometer off the Namanga Road, Engikaret is an easily accessible stop for travelers in transit. Here, you’ll have the chance to walk through the village, guided by Ayubu and other local Maasai, who will introduce you to their daily routines and customs.

Maasai Volunteering Solutions
At African Heritage Safaris, we believe travel should not only be beautiful — it should also be meaningful.
That’s why we don’t just visit Maasai communities. We live and work alongside them, and we are proud to say that part of your trip goes directly to support local development projects through our NGO:

🌱 Maasai Volunteering Solutions.
Whether it’s education for children, access to clean water, or empowering women through crafts and micro-businesses, each journey with us creates a real, measurable impact.
🌍 What makes it different?
Unlike standard “cultural visits,” our work is rooted in a long-term relationship with the community of Longido, located in the heart of Maasai land, at the foot of majestic mountains near the border with Kenya. This is not a tourist show — this is authentic, daily life, shared with you respectfully and purposefully.
